John:
Hope this link is still open and that you have made significant Wellingham progress in the ensuing 6 years! My great grandmother was Bithia Wellingham, daughter of Samuel Wellingham of The Tan House, Whitwell, Hertfordshire, UK. Apparently the Wellingham records in the parish records there go back to the 15th Century, though I have not yet checked them myself.
Bithia was born in 1852 and in 1869 married James F. Tooley and subsequently had 12 children. She died in 1940, aged 87.
I have an interest in locating Mary Ann Wellingham, as I have a sampler which she completed, aged 12, in 1814. As it has come down through the family to me, I suspect she was a generation ahead of Samuel (an aunt perhaps?) Will appreciate any information you may have.
I am a Brit and have lived in Southern California since 1975.
Regards, Barry Pinkerton
