I received unpublished data by Jane Betsey Welling after I had been in Jamaica, and that is another of the reasons that I am returning there. She stated that the original Thomas's son John had a son, William. He had 7 children all born before 1757, among whom were Jane and my ancestor, William b. 1756. If this is accurate (and I hope to find some evidence of this), your Jane and my William could have been siblings, and William, grandson of Thomas was ancestor to us both. I will be in NYC about March 1 looking for the trail, so I will let you know what I find, even if it is just that we need to look more.
I do know that this William lived in 9 Partners in Dutchess County as I have found him in the tax records during the period of 1744-1767. He went back and forth between Jamaica, LI and Dutchess Co, finally returning to LI during the Revolutionary War, since they were loyal to the crown and probably found living ther more comfortable than in the "wilder" country. By the was, this William was born in 1756, he is not the William, son of Thomas, who was born 1750 and died 1821. If you want more information here, I'd be glad to share, but we probably should take this off-line.

Barb
