Thomas was a common name in the Welling group. I have the earliest Thomas Welling in Jamaica, Long Island in 1672, but he was here earlier, probably around 1660. He had sons Thomas, William and John. Thomas stayed in Jamaica and I think that John and William went to Newtown. Eventually, these Wellings moved out over Upper New York, New Jersey, Maryland, etc. I have been trying to work out these Wellings, but it is very complicated since the same names are repeated over and over. It is possible that your Welling came from Maryland. I'll try to check it out for you. Please share what information you have with me off line, OK?
