No news on American Welfords just a point on the high cheek bones. My mother was a Welford, Patricia Merle b Oxford England 1937, daughter of Fred Welford and Florence Kempson, Yes she had high cheek bones as does my brother who incedently looks very much like my Grandfather Fred Welford so it does come from that side but I am pretty sure they came from Devon. You've got me thinking there, I'll look into it and post my findings.
