Dawn - I'm sure that I can't really help you, other than to offer you this tidbit of information that you may or may not know. I found out, by reading in the World Book Encyclopedia, that the surname Welf (German) is the same as the surname "Guelph" in Italian. I looked this up because I have a Judith Guelph (b. abt. 1731) who married a Henry Martin. It is said that Judith is the sister of King George III of England and also to the Duke of Gloucester (which I haven't been able to prove - although the approx birth year would make it viable). I know nothing of her family. Anyway, if you're stuck, you might look up Guelph...somewhere there might have been a name fluctuation. Carrie
