Hi Teresa,
My name is David Wood. My mother, Paricia Marie, is your cousin I believe. I have been researching the Weldy Family History for a good while now and believe I can Answer some of your questions. Jeter Weldy was my Great Grandfather. Jeters parents were James Henry Weldy and Lillie Luella Thomas. The Parnets of James were James Walton Weldy & Frances Packman McWaters. James Walton was born in Perry Co., MS. and was the first of the Weldy tribe to come to GA. James Walton faught for the Confederacy during the Civil War. He Enlisted in the Confederate army on 17 September 1861 in Augusta, MS
Served in Co. G 27th Mississippi Infantry "Kennedy Guards," Rank - Private
Wounded in right shoulder at Murfreesboro, TN on the 31 December 1862,
In Hospital in Atlanta, Ga on 23 February 1863.
The Parents of James Walton were Thomas Peyton Weldy & Elizabeth Pearce Thomas. Then the line goes: William Weldy, George Weldy, William Weldy, and William Weldy Sr. That takes the family line back to about 1681, which was about the time our first Weldy came to America. I have a great deal more information, too much to write down here. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
David Wood
