Hi Mildred: Do you know if there is a connection between Benedict, Andrew and James Weldon?I have: Humphrey Best married Mary Cartwright. Hannah Best, Daughter of Humphrey and Mary, married Joseph Weldon. Joseph and Hannah Weldon had three sons: James, Andrew and Benedict. Besides Hannah, Humphrey and Mary had Phoebe, Peggy, Isaac, Humphrey Jr., Stephen, Ebenezer and Celia Ann.Humphrey Jr. married Mary Catherine Enyart (or Enyard). Their daughter Polly, married James Weldon, her first cousin.
Joseph and Hannah were married in Madison County, KY., and lived in Paint Lick community.Joseph is listed in the l789 Tax list for Madison County.
Andrew Jackson Weldon, b.2-3-l796, was my gggg grandfather. He married Matilda Hamm in l8l8 in Pulaski Co., KY. they are both buried in the Old Union Cemetery. One of their sons, Thurman Weldon, was my ggg grandfather. I have the Andrew Jackson lineage.
The Foland Family Record by Wilma Ramsey Foland, says the Weldon fork of the Grand River was named Andrew and his two brothersthat came to Missouri in a very early day and then settled in Iowa. The Weldon fork was named for James Weldon. I know that James married Mary (Polly)and they are both buried in the Weldon Cemetery.
I'm trying to connect James, Andrew and Benedict -- and I could use some help...
Thanks, Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert
