anyway, found my gg grandmother, born 1846, missouri jane weldon. william's and rebecca's boy Bailey, is her father....also, concerning story of indian woman, who may have had surviving children, is:found that Choctaw people, who live in atlanta today, have the last name weldon, claiming trapper white weldon, -- who could have been the one in the big earthquake.and these people from atlanta are Jewish still, today.so interesting.
I have three female relatives named Missouri Weldon, all three of whom were born before 1861. Perhaps there is a close connection.
The first Missouri Weldon I have listed was born in 1817, the eighth child of William Weldon, born about 1770 in North Carolina and Rebecca Gill, born 1775 in Jasper County, Georgia. William and Rebecca were married November 25, 1801 in Columbia, Georgia. This Missouri Weldon Married Presley P. Burdett.
The second Missouri Weldon I have listed is Missouri J. Weldon, born 1846, the first child of Bailey Weldon, born 1810 in Jasper County, Georgia and Sarah Martin, born 1824 in Georgia. Bailey and Sarah were married December 28, 1843 in Pike County, Georgia.
The third Missouri Weldon I have listed is Missouri Jane Weldon, born April 23, 1853, the eighth child of Burwell Weldon, born September 9, 1808 in Jasper County, Georgia and Elizabeth McCutchen, born July 4, 1812 in Hall County, Ga. Burwell and Elizabeth were married April 3, 1831 in Henry County, Georgia.
The first Missouri Weldon I have listed is the aunt of Missouri J. Weldon and the aunt of Missouri Jane Weldon.
Either the name Missouri was very popular at the time or it is a family name that may indicate a connection to your Missoura Weldon. I do not have the majority of the decendents of William Weldon not in my direct lineage so I cannot offer complete information to connect to your Missoura Weldon. If you can make the connection the ancestors of William Weldon, born about 1770 in North Carolina are father - Isaac Weldon, and grandfather - Jacob Weldon.
As far as the earliest Weldon in North America, the bad news is that he did not arrive on the Mayflower; the good news is that he was already here; William Weldon arrived James City, Virginia aboard the "Bona Nova" Novemeber 4, 1619.
