this story suprised me. my gg-grandmother, missouri jane weldon was born 1845 in Pike Co, Ga. Her father is listed
as an Alford Weldon brn. 1822 or so, and goes back no further. Is he this fellow John, inspite of the name; most people had a mddle name. coincidently, missouri jane had a sister named martha. a concidence because this other family, a generation earlier, William Weldon b1771, children: have many children, 2 are named Martha and Missouri [1817], Jasper Ga. And they also had a boy named John born 1821 or so. [make him 17 around the above incident.] the Jasper Ga. family goes way way back. ....
Alford stops cold. ....also, every generation in my mothers family has a girl named Missouri; because: of this wild story about the 1812 earthquake, and how the ggg grandfather's indian wife fell to her death in a crack caused by the earth quake, they both had to jump. sound familiar to anyone?
