My husband's maternal line descends from Germany.
His mother's name was Norma Amelia Marie LASSIG.

Norma's father and mother were Edward Frank LASSIG and Anna WELCOME. Edward Frank's father was Irdman LASSIG, who was born in Germany. Edward Frank was born in LaCrosse, WI, 1887, so the LASSIGs were in the US by that date.

Anna's mother was named Marie and she was born in Bohemia or Austria. Date and maiden name unknown.

Anna's father was named VILKOMMEN (German for Welcome). It is believed he Anglicized it when he came to America. I don't know exactly when he immigrated, nor where in Germany he was born.

Anna was born in Chicago, IL, May 4, 1186, so the VILKOMMENs were in the US by that date and had changed their names to WELCOME. Anna had a sister May, and a brother Jerry.
