I found this in a book about the town of Westport in Decatur County, Indiana. I am the INGENWEB county coordinator for Jennings, Jefferson & Switzerland Counties in southeastern Indiana, and wanted to put this on the Switzerland County site, but in on line trees I am seeing Thomas S. and Lucinda but her surname is listed as Vorhis not Jackson as it says here. I anyone on this list researching this family? The book was written in 1976, and has a picture of the O.F. Welch family in it.

Dr. O.F. Welch (Oliver Frank) was born in 1870 in Switzerland County, Indiana, the son of Thomas S. Welch and Lucinda Jackson Welch. He had four brothers, one of whom was Dr. John Welch of Letts.
He was married on July 4, 1896, to Elizabeth Robertson. The couple had five children, but two of them died in infancy. The other children were Gladys, Bertie, and Scoville Welch.
Gladys was married to Frank Shaw, and the couple had two chidren, William G. and Patricia Shaw. Gladys died in the 1920's and her two children were raised by Dr. and Mrs. Welch.
William G. Shaw now lives in Detroit, Michigan, and is the president of a manufacturing company in that city.
Patricia Shaw, now a registered nurse, was married to Malcomb Petrie, and the couple has three children.
Bertie was married to Dr. Herschel Goss, who helped plan Community Hospital in Indianapolis, where the couple lived for several years. Both are now deceased.
Scoville Welch was married to Lucille Emly in 1930, and they became parents of two sons, John Richard and James Allen Welch.
John Richard passed away in 1947.
James Allen Welch is married to Maxine Gerth and the couple has two sons, David and Michael. James has worked at Hamilton Cosco for several years, and the family lives on a farm near Westport.
Dr. O.F. Welch was a General Practitioner which included setting bones, testing eyes and fitting glasses, and extracting teeth. He also had the first x-ray machine in the community. He had an active practice in Westport until about 1930.
In addition to his practice of medicine, Dr. Welch was a pillar in the Westport Christian Church, where he taught a Sunday School Class for many years, and helped to build the present building.
His son Scoville Welch, followed in his father's footsteps and was a Trustee and a Deacon in the Chruch. Scoville passed away on February 13, 1975.
