Hello Jerry,
Jack, Thomas, and William Wilburn of Greene Co., GA. and Powhatan Co., VA were the sons of John Wilburne and his wife Martha Taylor, Gilliam , Wilburn, DeShazer of Powhatan Co., VA and Greene Co., GA.Her will is in Greene Co., GA and list her daugthers which"The Hills of Wilkes Co., GA " in errorattribute to William and Hephzibah. Her daughter Martha was married to Josiah Maddox and her daughter Mary "Polly" was married to George Stovall. The book gives Mary to William and Hephzibah but their Bible records record that their Mary died when 6 years old.The will in Greene Co., GA proves thatMary Stovall and Martha Maddox are NOT the children of William and Hephzibah. They are the daughters of John and Martha Wilourne of Powhatan Co., VA.They had other children a Dr. named Daniel who died in late 1798 or so in Powhatan Co., VA. and a couple of others. All this families marriage records including the ones of the daughters are safely tucked away in Powhatan Co., VA.
Check them out there.Martha DeShazer 's husband after John Wilburn who died about 1790 was dead by the time she came to Greene Co., GA to be with her children.Jack was a Methodistpreacher
and his marriage and his brothers are in I think Clarke Co., GA.Jack lived in Newton Co., and died in Randolph Co., GA.William married a number of times 3 that I know of and I have a book on all his descendants if you need them.He married Mary Netherland for one wife.Thomas marriedin GA also and his will is in Morgan Co., GA in middle 1835 or so.If you need these dates I do have them and can pull them for you.It is claimed that this family descends from a brother or someone in Poccahontas 's family but it is just a legend like the Sea Venture story. Not proven.
There is a beautiful tapastry that belonged to the Stovall family with the names and dates of Mary's children on it.A lady in Athens has it.She does a TV show on Needlepoint on the GA Educational Chanel. William Wilburn went west. Some of the children apparantly stayed in VA.
It is not known who John's father was but
we continue to search the records.
