Here is some food for thought: Stokes, Rowan, Surry, and Wilkes county families share the same names, particularly William,and the family names are intertwinedwith at least two different lines of Wilbourns.Here is one William Welborn in Surry Co. slightly after your date of reference.

Surry County Deed Book F:
No. 372.5 September 1796.Isaac Welborn Senr to Edward Lovell 30 pds 2 ac Forbis Ck, part land James Carson now lives on.(signed)Isaac X Welborn

Isaac Wilbourn (multiple spellings) moved to Surry Co. about 1794.

"Wilburn:Edward, 26;Edward Junr, 26; Richard, 21, 26;
William, 21."
(my note:William Wilburn does not own any acreage and has one white poll in 1794.Note that there is a Richard Wiburn near him, not the one from Edward's group).
Year 1795:William not found in 1795 but Isaac is with 640 acres and 2 white polls.Isaac died in 1799 and his children were already dispersed into Stokes and Wilkes Counties and elsewhere.The sheriff of Stokes Co. sent out warrants to various children in Stokes and Surry Counties to explain the settlement of their estate.

(list of children including William Wilbourn), 1800.You may read this complete document in message 329 Gen Forum by Ann Gahan.
William Wilbourn (Wellborn mostly used) may be a part of this group.I am related to his younger brother Daniel Wellborn who married Sarah Douglas in Stokes Co., NC, but moved to Wilkes Co., NC, in 1815.To my knowledge, my group of researchers has not located any information about this William Wilbourn, the son of Isaac Wilbourn---so you may be from the missing William.

There was also a Moses Wilburn that died about 1785 in Surry County--had a wife name Martha, which could be your relation.
Good luck on your search.Morris K. Jackson
