My father, Robert Weitz, b.1931, is from Boston and his relatives are almost entirely Irish. This seems to support your view that Weitz men often married Irish women. My grandfather's name was Lincoln Weitz, and my grandmother's maiden name was Mary Dorsey. I don't know my great grandfather's name, but Carl seems to ring a bell.
