I'm helping a friend look for more on her family . Philip Weiss served in France in Army as a sapper. Then he served as a papal guard in Rome for 2 years. He came to the US in 1869--settled for awhile in St. Louis--then moved to Tidioute, PA, where he married Odellie Christy. In 1879 they moved to Bradford, PA. He was a bootmaker. He was survived by 3 sons--Frank of KY; Paul P. of Portsmith, OH; and Clement of Portsmith; 2 daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Eva) Whitcomb of Pittsburgh; and Harriet Weiss of Bradford and 6 grandchildren. (from an obituary).
Philip Weiss' brother was Nicholas. Other brothers were Joseph of St. Louis; Nathan (Ignatz) of Toulouse, France; Band sisters Barbara Fritch of Belfort, France; Mary lamberger of Forstheim, Alsace.
Nicholas Weiss' children, many of whom settled in Bradford, PA, were Beno, Leo, Victor, Milo, Ralph, Albert of Geneva, NY, Clementine, Mary, Agnes, and Nell.
