Emily, was it Alison Venable who married Grace then Carolyn? Or was it his son, Merle?? I spent a little time in Mt. Vernon, IN recently and found death records for Alison and Merle. I don't have them with me right now but I believe the man whose records list "Carolyn" as spouse was actually Merle. I found a cemetery stone for Alison and his parents, Henry and Martha (my GRGrandmother's sister)but didn't have time to look for Merle's stone.
