In Reply to: Weissenbergers in Germany by Jean A. Weisenberger Tackett of 48

My Great-Great Grandfather was David Weissenberger. All I know about him is that he was born around 1809 and died in 1865. He imigrated from Baden-Baden, Germany before 1860. I have been told the "family" originally settled in the Rochester, NY area. His sons were David, Edward, Anthony, Casper, Francis Xavier, John Henry (my great-grandfather), and a daughter, Kathlene. Some or all of the family moved to the Lawrence County, OH before 1862 as both David and Edward enlisted in the Civil War, serving OH, in 1862. Both survived the war and "re-settled" in Lawrence County, OH. I have many pieces of information on Francis Xavier (Frank) and John Henry, but, very little on the other children or David (the father). The spelling of the last name varies from Weissenberger (seldom) to Wisenberger (frequently) to Weisenberger (frequently) to Weisenburger (seldom). Any information that might help with identifying my ancestors would be greatly appreciated and reciprocated with information I have. Thank you.
