Is Alexander Weir the one with sisters Agnes and ? or is it Jean ??? the one with the sister Agnes?

There was another estate in Lesmahagow called Black Wood.

The same family started out both estates I think.
Only the eldest son would have inherited the estates.
Over the centuries, a rivalry occurred between brothers?
A murder between the families occurred.
Eventually the two estates merged with a son of one family marrying the daughter of the other.
Lesser sons would pay dues to the Baron at that time on the particular estate he had inherited.
Look up the Annals of the Parish of Lesmahagow written by J. B. Greenshields, Advocate, on the web as there was a book written about the area and the Weir Family.

A Marian Greenshields was one of the Grandmothers in my line.
