Weir Family of Monroe County, AR
Hello.I am looking for the Weir family from TN/NC who moved to Monroe County, AR. Mary's parents were believed to be from TN/NC. It is believed that they(Mary Magdeline (Weir) and her brother James Thomas Weir, there were also several other sisters who married and they had land there in Monroe County. Mary married John Montfort Smith. John and his brother were blacksmiths and tinsmiths. They made wagon wheels among other things. They repaired the wagons traveling on the route through Brinkley, AR going out west from the east.
Mary's brother, James Thomas Weir (we have a photo that says that he was 50 years old on 09/12/1924. That means that he had to have been born in 1874. We do not know if this is his birthday photo. James Thomas worked along the tracks and traveled the railroad looking for work in Little Rock, AR and in and around Kansas, on the Cotton Plant Railroad and Southern Pacific Railroads.
Details:
Mary's brother, James Thomas Weir (we have a photo that says that he was 50 years old on 09/12/1924). That means that he had to have been born in 1874.
My Great-grandmother, (my Dad) Floyd Cobb's Grandmother) Mary Magdeline(SP?) (Weir) Smith. Mary was born: 04/24/~1868 - Died:12/04/1951
John Montfort Smith was born on 12/26/1859 or 1858 and died on 05/08/1941.
My Grandmother, (my Dad) Floyd Cobb's Mother, Lola Lillian (Smith) Cobb, Born: 09/07/1897 Died: 11/15/1977
John and Mary homesteaded in Brinkley, Arkansas after moving from TN/NC. They were friends of the Cobb family (Robert Lee and Rose Etta (Jacobs) Cobb) who were from way back. They dated each other... John with Rose Etta and Robert Lee with Mary and back and forth until they decided on who they were going to marry and settle down with. They even named their children the same... then one from each family married... my grandparents - Dewey MurialCobb and Lola Lillian Smith. Date wise, Robert Lee and Rose Etta married in 1929... so I imagine the others did around that same time.
So, I am looking for the Weir women with birthdates around Mary's and Jim's birthdates and would have married and settled down in Monroe County, AR.They would have a sister named Mary Magdeline (Weir) Smith and a brother named James Thomas Weir.
I am looking to find the rest of the Weir family.
I will gladly exchange information.
Thank you.God bless.Peace and blessings.
