Hi Cynthia, My first posting didn't go through so I'll try again. My father Charles Eckert was the son of Charles Weingartner and Mary (Eckert) on the 1910 census. I was unable to find out what happened to my grandfather Charles Weingartner after the 1910 census but was able to trace him back to his Grandfather Joseph Weingartner of Brooklyn, NY. In the 1880 federal census Joseph had two children living with him, Charles (age 26)& his sister Elizabeth. In the 1900 census Charles age 17 (son of the elder Charles) was living with his Aunt Elizabeth and her husband William Hirten of Brooklyn. His age was 17. I don't believe Mary and Charles were married but she named all her children Eckert after her first husband Frederick Eckert of Jersey City. Frederick only recognized two children, William and Herbert.
I've done extensive research on the Eckert family and will gladly send you what I have, let me know. You stated you were married to a grandson of Mary. Is you husband a son of Herbert or a grandson? Please let me know if you receive this message. Charlie
