missiw Not sure who your grandfather is as you don't state it but you have sort of touched on the truth. The Weinert name for instance was not the true name, though so your off slightly. If you are talking about Christian's line which is the only Weinert line that I know of having that particular surname, he was also documented as Wynard, and I think most firmly believe that Winegart.. Weingart.. Weingartner etc... was the true spelling. The Vineyard spelling was the english way of transcribing the Winegard, Weingart, Winegartner Weingarden name etc... So the name in essence was shorted and englisized. I have more on the various lines etc if you would like to chat. Notify Administrator about this message?
