Katherine, Peter Weiland is the great, great
grandfather of my four children. John was
my first husbands grandfather and I was close
to both he and Grandma Weiland (Catherine
Schu). In fact Catherine and my maternal
grandmother worked together as young girls
in a corset factory in Aurora.
I was born and raised in Aurora and can
assure you that Peter passed away in Aurora
before I met the family. Peter, as I was
told, was a known as "squire Weiland". A
proud, dignified figure as he strolled the
neighborhood in his later years. He was
a devoted Catholic and our families belonged
to the same German Parish.
I would be more comfortable sharing this
history with you if I knew your relation-
ship to the family and thus your interest
in reseaching the family history. I look
forward to your reply.
