I know of WEIDEMANN family members who originally lived in West Prussia, Germany, in the 19th century, e.g. in Kreise (counties) Briesen and Graudenz. There is also a Weidemann family who emigrated to the U.S. around 1880. If interested I can let you know the address of a descendant.
By the way, the change of surname into Waitman or Weightman sounds funny.
