Harry E. Weicht
Harry Elbert Weicht, 83, of 1040 Revere St., Fayetteville, died Sunday, June 22, 2008.
Born in Bedford County, Pa., on Oct. 6, 1924, Mr. Weicht was the son of the late Ross E. and Ellen Thompson Weicht. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years, having served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a charter member of the Retired Military Association. He was an avid golfer.
Mr. Weicht is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillian Garlick Weicht; two sons, Rick Weicht and wife Jo Alice of Fayetteville, and Kerry Weicht of Layton, Utah; one sister, Irma Davis of Fayetteville; two half brothers, Gary Weicht of Sanford and Ernie Weicht of Nanjemoy, Md.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Weicht was preceded in death by his siblings, his twin brother, Earl Weicht, and sisters, Mary Jane Custer and Ruth Jervis.
Graveside services will be held at noon Friday, June 27, 2008, in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, with the rendering of full military honors.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Retired Military Association of N.C., 120 Old Elizabethtown Road, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
