Hi Mary Ann and also Casey,
Thank you for the replies to my query. Your e-mail was interesting in that you stated that your Wegmann came from Switzerland. According to the Marriage certificate I have for John Wegmann to Mary Bickel they were both from Bavaria. My Wegmann family consisted of the following children all born in NYC oldest to youngest; Peter ca 1868, John Jr ca.1872, Mary ca 1875, Joseph ca 1876, Maggie Feb 1880, and Andrew ca 1889. Mary and John Wegmann had 12 children but these are the only names I have at this time. Mary (Bickel) Wegmann died May of 1910 after the 1910 Census was taken in NYC on April 23, 1910. She must have been sick by the time of the census. I could not find the family in NY in 1920. There were only 4 children living by this time. I have heard of the Wegmann food chain in the Rochester NY area because I do have cousins there from another line in my family. I don't know if the names of the children are the same as the names in your family but I thought I'd give you more information in hopes that maybe there is a connection. As far as I know my Wegmann family stayed in NY. MY Wegmann game to NY in 1854 around the age of 12. He most likely came with other family members like cousins, Uncles, etc. His father's name was Peter Wegmann and his mother was Eva Framer. Let me know what you think.
