I'm 99% sure that I met Ralph Wegman in New Mexico in the mid-1980s when we both answered a page for Mr Wegman at the Albuquerque airport. My Wegmans are also
Jewish. I chatted with him about the Wegman name and he thought that we were probably related somehow. Originally, my family came from Linkuva in Lithuania and, went on to Wilkes-Barre. My father Edwin grew up in Brooklyn. It is clear to me that most Wegmans in the US are not Jewish but I do find it intriguing that many of the Wegmans of Rochester are often scholars, good mathematicians, and excellent entrepreneurs.
