I know that Sophie Lisette Julie Brasch, wife of Gabriel Wegener, went to court for their children (Children's Court in Germany) re: all the lands etc they lost during the Prussian war. She won and received some monies.
This Wegener side seemed to be on boats as traders ... Schwanheide Estate. Children (Anna Maria Ella Johanna Sophie, Gabriel Peter Samuel, Catharina Wilhelmine Luise Caroline, and Hans Peter Ludwig Otta) were all baptism between 1862 and 1870 in Germany. Seems as though the family settled in Michigan ... I know when a horse ran away and tipped the wagon over breaking Gabriel's back, the family moved to Chicago.
If any of these sounds familiar would like to hear from you. Thanks.
