A John McPherson married Francis Weems, daughter of John Crompton Weems (1777-1862) and Elizabeth Webster. This is the Weems family that was prominent in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles and Prince George counties. The first Weems (Wemyss from Scotland) immigrants were David, James and Williamina, brought to the US by their maternal uncle William Lock in about 1715. There is a considerable amount of information on this Weems family on the web as well as in the on-line holdings of the MD State Archives.
