Yes, I've never been convinced either, as I've never found any document that places him anywhere before he's found in Hillsboro, NC. The information on Col. John A. Weems and his children is so different from John Weems and Kitty's children that they can't possibly be the same people. Plus the two of them have completely documented death dates and wills, so they're obviously two different people.

I don't think he belongs to anyone identified so far as none of them are old enough to be his father. My next project is locate the Dingler family to see if they're in the same place. Afterall, if they were married they had to meet somewhere. :-)

I've also seen Jones Weems as having been born in Abbeville, SC, but I would say Orange Co., NC. I want to follow that up as well.
