Yes, I agree about Francis possibly being an overseer in Alabama. Donna Wedgeworth is the one that told me about the Santee River and the Salt Catcher River. I don't know who told her the story of the possibility of him being an overseer near one of those rivers.
Only one thing, Donna said that he supposedly left Alabama and went to work in South Carolina as an overseer then went back to Alabama to Marshall County to marry Nancy Caroline Milford. However, there's no documentation to prove that he was in South Carolina possibly in the late 1830's to 1841 or so. Thanks to Sherman, most of the records, as well as plantations, were burned.
Guess we'll never really know the answer. So frustrating!
