Hi Phyllis; I've been mulling over some of your objections to the records in the Carson Simmons bible. It occured to me there was something odd about the records. They were found in Carson's old trunk. (unfortunately they had been removed from the original bible which apparently is now lost) The records report the birth, marriage, and death of James Wedgeworth, his wife Jinsey Walker Wedgeworth and their children. They also include the births and marriage of Green B. Shinn and Elizabeth Jane WEDGEWORTH Shinn, and the births, and in a few cases deaths of their children, the youngest being born in Dec.5th 1866. And that is the MOST RECENT DATE recorded. So what's odd about all this...There is NOTHING about CARSON, his family, or for that matter ANY SIMMONS other than CORNELIA SHINN, Carson's mother, and then only her BIRTH, NOT HER MARRIAGE Does it seem likely that either Carson or Cornelia would NOT have included ANY information about their OWN FAMILIES if either had been the author ? So what does this lead to ? The author of these records was NOT CARSON SIMMONS. It was PROBABLY NOT CORNELIA SHINN SIMMONS, It WAS ALMOST CERTAINLY written by ELIZABETH JANE WEDGEWORTH SHINN, daughter of JAMES and JINSEY WALKER WEDGEWORTH, and Carson's grandmother. The implications of this conclusion are profound as regards the accuracy of the names and dates of the people and events recorded. It is my understanding that Gigi Nielson has, or soon will, contact you to send you copies of the records for your consideration. I look forward to your thoughts about this.
