I can add a little bit more to the story. In December of 1887, Doctor Midddleton Wedgeworth filed a case against his brother John Monroe Wedgeworth and wife Nancy in the Hale County Chancery Court. It concerned a fradulent land conveyance. So it would appear that a disagreement about land issues was the cause for the family dispute.
