Hi Barbara,

The "Dr. Nibbleton Wedgeworth" in the Newspaper article is in reality "Dr. Middleton" Wedgeworth. He was born 8 Sept. 1828 in Alabama and died 11 September 1889 in Greene/Hale County, Alabama. He may have married a women name Sarah who had a child named Robert. It appears that Robert is not Middleton's child however. Middleton is found in the 1850 and 1860 census in the household of his mother Elizabeth and in 1870 is the head of the household with Sarah age 48 and Robert age 18.

(Note: County Boundry lines changed at some point.)

Middleton is buried in the Wedgeworth Cemetery in Greene County/Hale County near his Great Grandmother Esther (w/o William Sr.)and his Great Uncle John who was the first person to be buried in this cemetery. This John was a minister. He died young in his early twenties.

The John Wedgeworth, Middleton shot was born January 1831 and died sometime after 1900. He married ca 1858 Nancy Gewin, the former Mrs. Alvis Logan. John & Nancy's children are Walter, Christopher, William and Florence.

Dr. Middleton and his brother John are the children of William Wedgeworth Jr. and Elizabeth Finney. William Wedgeworth Jr. is the son of James Wedgeworth Sr. and his first wife Ann Broden/Braden.

Middleton and John are both named as minor defendents in the Contested Will of their step grandmother. James' second wife Rachel.

I hopes this helps someone. I have a 300 page manuscript in the works on the Descendants on William and Esther Wedgeworth. I've been working on this since ca 1980 if anyone would like to contribute? You are welcome to do so.
