Wedge Family Ontario -John Wedge & Tawanga (Cayuga Tribe)
Family legend is that John Wedge (1760-1818) married Tawanga (1768-Unknown) who was allegedly Chief Pigeons daughter. Apparently Tawanga died and "then" John married Anne Persoon (Parsoon, Parrson). If John kept with the "Longhouse" tradition there may not be any kind of direct evidence regarding a traditional marriage. Unable to locate Chief Pigeon of the Cayuga Tribe around 1768, or any internet record of Tawanga Wedge. Does anyone have any indirect evidence regarding Tawanga? Anyone in the family remember who mentioned the "Tawanga Legend" and how far back it goes?
