There has been some debate over Abigail Eastman's parentage. Most sources (from old town records and direct line genealogies) agree that her parents were: Roger Eastman (b. 9 May 1707 in Salisbury, MA) and Jerusha Fitts (b. 10 Dec 1712 to Richard & Sarah [Thorn] Fitts) who m. 25 Jan 1730. Abigail's siblings were: Ezekiel (1731-1790) who m. Sarah Blaisdell (1730-1798); Daniel (1733-?) who m. Mary Jackman (?-1763); and Sarah (1735-?) who m. William Walton.
Roger (1707-?) was s/o John (1675-1740) & Hudlah [Kingsbury] (1680-1740) Eastman.
John (1675-1740) was s/o John (1640-1720) & Mary [Boynton] (1648-1757) Eastman.
John (1640-1720) was s/o Roger [the emigrant] (1610-1694) and Sarah [Smith] (1621-1697) Eastman.
Roger was b. in Downton, Wiltshire, England and came to America in April 1638 on the ship 'Confidence.'
In England, Rogers lineage is as follows: Nicholas (1564-1640) & Ann Barbara [Rooke] (1581-1625) Eastman; Roger (1539-1604) & Margaret [King] (1542-1604) Estman; John (1515-1565) & Ann [?] (1519-?) Estman. The last known (or guessed) line in Roger (1482-?) & Anne? [?] (1499-?) Estman.
Some researches believe that Eastman/Estman was derived from Easthund/Esthund though there is no proof.
