Dr. Wilse B. (Bernie) Webb, retired and living at Gainseville, Florida, was born in October of 1920. He is a descendant of Robert Webb, Sr. of Surry County, VA, Charles Webb who died in Southampton County, Va., in 1758, Micajah Webb of Brunswick / Greensville County, Va., and Kinchen Webb, the brother of Warren Webb. Kinchen and Warren Webb were first cousins to Charles Webb of Anderson, S.C.
Dr. Webb tells of Kinchen Webb’s migration into North Carolina and then on to Tennessee.
Kinchen Webb, the brother of Warren Webb and the son of Micajah Webb of Brunswick / Greensville Counties, VA., left Greenville Co. VA for Halifax Co NC about 1810.His wife (Martha “Pasty” Harris) had inherited some 150 acres from relatives.
Kinchen took with him his son, Henry R. Webb. Henry married Lucy Judkins in 1821.
Henry and Lucy and their son, Albert Augustus Webb moved to Gibson County
TN.Kinchen moved to Madison County TN, where he died in 1832.
Dr. W. B. Webb of Florida has the family bible which connects him to Henry R. Webb, his great, great grandfather.
Albert Augustus Webb, son of Henry R. Webb, had his grandfather Lint Albert Webb.Lint Albert Webb died under a falling tree at the age of 32, leaving his grandmother with five children, the youngest of whom was his father (6 mos old).
The widow raised them on a very poor scratch farm.
Dr. Webb was raised in the small town of Yazoo City, Miss.
His mother was from a long line of MDs from Lake Providence, La. and filled him
with dreams.
He did his BA at LSU. He was in graduate school at the University of Iowa when World War II came along. He served four years and finished his PhD in 1947.
Dr. Webb taught at the University of Tennessee, Washington University, ran a Navy Research Laboratory in Pensacola, Fla., and went to the University of Florida as Chairman of the Psychology Dept. in 1959.
He has written or edited seven books and some 250 papers -- mostly on sleep.
His TN relatives were staunch Baptists and all are buried in small Baptist cemeteries, but
Dr. Webb was raised Episcopalian and married the daughter of an Episcopalian priest.
Dr. Webb’s records show the following additional information about Kinchen Webb.
He was given 250 acres by his father Micajah in 1801.
He married Martha Harris in 1798.

In the Feb Court of 1810 in Halifax County NC seven families petition
the division of the estate of Elizabeth Harris deceased. One of these was
Kinchen Webb and his wife Martha. Each family received 63 acres and one of
the petitioner sold his portion to Kinchen Webb of Greenville co Va.

The census of 1830 list Kinchen with six children
and Henry R. Webb with one male 5-10 and a female.
This Henry R. Webb married Lucy Judkins and moved from Halifax County to Gibson County Tenn in the 1830s.
Henry R. Webb sold his Halifax County land to Kinchen Webb in 1831.
In 1836 Kinchen Webb died intestate in Madison County, Tennessee.
His property was sold to Jabes (sp), James Webb, HENRY WEBB, William Day, Charles Webb, Thomas H. Webb, John Webb. The slaves and household goods were sold in two sessions and were mostly bought by those named above.
