Based on early baptismal and marriage records, I can safely say that they were German/Dutch Reformed and/or Lutheran. As they settled in, the German and Dutch Refgradually combined their churches and worshipped together. (Sometimes families used both to have their children baptized...possibly at whichever one was the most convenient.) As I recall, the Sand Lake crowd tended to be predominately Lutheran.

A Michigander myself, I am attempting to "connect up" the Weatherwaxes I can find listed on the Michigan censuses with their roots in New York. UNFORTUNATELY, there are decendants living in two locales within the state that I have had no luck tracing thus far. One of them is Wayne Co.

Have you contacted Wayne Weatherwax yet? He is the guru and hopefully he will be able to help you.
