I can not find where my relatives were Weathersby's or not, but I have found this in my records:

+++

E M Brooks was a prominent man in the affairs of Simpson County for many years. He was in the horse trading, lumber, and sawmill businesses, as well as being a farmer. The town of Weathersby was incorporated in 1902 with E M as Mayor. He performed many wedding ceremonies. And it was customary for him to present each bride with a silver dollar. He augmented his farming with selling mules. He made regular trips to Texas to buy mules and drove them back to MS. Along with his many Negro helpers, he spent many nights camping along the way.

If any of you have any information on James Evan Manuel Brooks sometimes listed as EM Brooks. That information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jennifer Drake
