I am trying to figure out who this person is. He married Mary M. Spillman 8 Mar 1840 in Allen Co., KY. I'm not sure who Mary M. Spillman was, either, but she might have been my gg-grandfather's sister. He had a sister, Mary "Polly" Spillman.
I found Jim Wheat's web page where he had the story of Eliza Richey Spillman telling her story of coming from Allen Co., KY to Dallas Co., TX in a wagon train right after the Civil War. She mentioned stopping at Bob Weatherhead's house, also also that he had come to Dallas Co. earlier. I am wondering if this could be J. R. D. WEATHERHEAD? That web page is:
Someone sent me some information about Civil War Diaries of John Coalman Weatherred.
He starts of: "I was born in Allen County, Ky., eight miles from Scottsville on Feb 26th 1846. My father Wilson Weathered had left the Kentucky home in 1855 and in 1861 was living near Castalian Springs, Tennessee, when an election in March was held to determine whether Tennessee should withdraw from the Northern States." I don't have any information on his family having a J. D. R. Weatherred.
The only other possibility I can think of is Robert D. Weatherred, son of Elizabeth Gilmore and John Weatherred. He married a Mary Polly. I originally had her name as Bledsoe, but showed she was also married to another Weatherred. The Bledsoe researchers said they were two different ladies. Does anyone have any information on what happened to Robert D. Weatherred.
I would like to find parents for my orphan Mary M. Spillman and J. R. D. Weatherred, and I will be happy to share. email@example.com
