Sorry you haven't had an answer.I do not have one at the
moment but I will get my Weatherly genealogy book from my
farm and try to help you.I know there were Weatherlys
that came from Guilford Co., NC after they started in MD,
in the 1600's.After the Am. Rev. where Jesse Abner Weatherly, the sheriff of Guilford Co., was killed in
the battle at the courthouse, a lot of the original family
spread over the southern states. But some did stay in NC
and in VA.
I have traced my family to Maury Co., TN, and south of that, to Lauderdale, AL, to Attala Co., MS and on to Nacogdoches Co., TX. It sounds to me that your family may have descended from the brothers family that came to North Carolina. There were a few of Job Parker Weatherly, Jr.(mine)and his bro. John Alexander Weatherly's cousins that did came to Texas later and John H. Weatherly may have been one.A few of Jesse's family did come this way also.Jesse's son was elected sheriff in the same place and remained there until abt. 1810, sold his land and moved abruptly to TN without signing the papers on the sale, someone signed for him later.
Another lead could be Job Parker Weatherly, Sr, b-1761, that was married to Mary Watters that died in 1813 in Maury Co., TN,
He remarried to Margaret Suzannah Carson in 1815.He had 14 children by Mary, 3 sons and 11 daus.He had a son and adau. by Suzannah, one was Martha, and a son Samuel. Samuel
was born and Jobe died when he was 13. Samuel had a lot of off-springs in Maury Co. that I haven't researched yet.
Here are some names that you could get an idea how and when
the Weatherly/Wetherly/Weatherby's descended and some dates. There may be mistakes but some are correct. The
person that read the 1850-60 Nacogdoches. TX census mispelled my Weatherly name to be Weatherby.I called them down on it and they said it couldn't be changed now.
One branch that came to Texas was a Weatherly dau. from Guilford, NC that married her Weatherly uncle, changed their name to Weatherby when they came to Texas.
The first Weatherly known to emigrate was James Weatherly, b-1641 d-1705 in Somerset, MD, and he married first to a Mary Unk., came from Northumberland,VA to MD. Mary died and then remarried a widow, Ann Williams Manlove (her maiden name<, Williams being a middle name from her mother, Hannah Williams (that married Mark Manlove, Hannah was Rev. Roger Williams dau.) There's a lot of info on Mark, (a Quacker I think) in a lot of searches.
Ann was married to Richard Ackworth and had a son for sure, a Jr., and possibly Sarah, but she could have been James' child. In some records she isn't mentioned. They then had twins, Temperance and Patience next, then James Jr., born in 1678.There was a William, possibly named for James' father in England, but there was a John namesake also down the line.
2.James Weatherly, Jr., 1678, and Elizabeth Roberts had an Elizabeth Ann in 1715, James III in 1716 and John in 1719. That is all the children I found for them. She was
the dau. of James Roberts that died in 1715, per his will,
and Elizabeth Farnsworth, born 1647 in MA. The will mentioned Elizabeth married James.
3.John Weatherly, 1719
John is where my family and probably yours came from.He
married an unknown in 1738 Dorcester, MD, and recently I have seen her first name as Sarah, and later a last name of
Doak which could be wrong. They had these children that most all migrated to the south, Guilford, NC and VA first.
1.William M. b-1739 (some believe he is the father of
these children but I don't.John and Sarah married in
1738 in Dorchestor Co., MD.
2.Jesse Abner, b-1743, killed in the Guilford Co. Court-
house battle, leaving a no. of children with Nancy
Doak.
3.Edward, b-1748
4.Isaac, b-1751
5.Isaiah, b-1755
6.Jobe Parker W. b-1761 (I thought the Parker may have
came from the Sarah's maiden name but have not
searched. He is my descendant through Jobe, Jr.
7.Jeremiah, b-1765
8.Joseph, born 1768
As far as know, all these came to NC after the last was
born.Nothing is known abt. their parents death and if
they came. They were all born in Dorchester Co., MD. My Jobe was in the American Revolution I know.He must have been young, the courthouse battle was in March, 1783 that turned the war to the colonies advantage. The last fight was in VA.
John, 1719 and Sarah could have came with them but I just
don't know.He would have been 49 when Joseph was born
and perhaps died prior the migration.I had read somewhere
there was hard feelings when one widow remarried and her
new husband took over the estate, I have always felt that
is why all those men came to NC.It is just a thought....
maybe someone else knows.
Another thought is that Jobe, Jr. and John Alexander
Weatherly came to Maul, TX in Nacogdoches Co.Henderson
a fairly medium town not far from Maul and Mt. Enterprise
and could be how he got the Henderson middle name.Jobe had a trading post where he traded fresh horses to travelers, you could eat and sleep. The men and sons in
the barn, and women and dau. in the house. My g-grand
parents were one of these that always loved the Weatherlys
kindness, and when they came to the town of Nacodoches from
Whitchita Falls, TX were some of the weary travelers and
my great grandmother was pregnant with her last child. It
ended up my mother married their g-grandson.There was
a mill and plenty food grown on the large plantation, bordered by a creek and water supplied from a spring.
Springs were plentyful in the red iron-ore hills of
Nacogdoches Co.
I will try to find the information concerning John H.
Weatherly. If you have questions, feel free to email me.
I like to get this information in the genforum in case
someone else is hunting.
