I have posted Weatherlow queries in Family Tree magazine (an English publication) with no response--while I have had responses on some of my other "odd" surnames. Perhaps, indeed, we need to look elsewhere.
BTW, one of my family names, "Siflet," did turn up in England. The researcher there theorized that the family had been Waloons from Belgium, as some were members of a Belgian church in Kent. W tend to forget that people emigrated to countries within Europe, not just overseas.
