I am Tim Weatherford and I have been researching my Weatherford family line for a few years. I have been able to trace my own line back to a Charles Weatherford. His son, Archibald, is definitely my great great great grandfather. Archibald was born in North Carolina about 1777 and he married in Jackson Co. Ga. in 1806, This seems to make him a prime candidate to be the son of Charles Weatherford and perhaps his first wife. Charles Weatherford married in Anson Co. North Carolina to the widow Charity Townsend, date unknown, but was after 1786, as this was about when her husband Solomon Townsend died. Charity was probably his 2nd wife, but this is just a guess. Charles is on the 1790 Census for Anson with 5 males under 16 and 4 females in the house, no other free persons and no slaves. Charles and Charity moved to Jackson County Ga.prior to 1805, as Charity's son Solomon R. Townsend married there in 1805 to Nancy Liles (Lyles). Charles left his will in Jackson Co. Ga., dated 3-18-1814 and recorded 11-7-1814 naming his wife: Charity, and his children: Archibald, Rhoda Armstrong, Patsy Carr, Betsy Hooks, Susey Hare. Exr. Solomon Townsend. Witness: James Y. McEvan, Martha McEvan, Bartlett Walker. After Charles' death Charity moves to Dekalb County Georgia with her son Solomon. If any of this matches with any of your research, please let me know. I am trying to confirm that Charles is Archibald's father. Then, I am trying to establish the rest of the line. (ie Charles' father). Thank you for anything you can email me. All the best!
