Thank you so much for your post, in my search I had found my answers regarding Col. Samuel Wear, although I didn't know about his nephew.
The real confussion came from a DAR Appl. 672224, filed 1982, which claims decend from a Sgt. Samuel Wear, b.1750
Augusta Co. Va., d.1817 Sevierville, Tn., based soley on a book refference, that he served under Capts. Lipscomb, Young,& Buckner.
After much research I found a Letter of Attorney, and a Deposition that proved this was actually my ancestor
Samuel Ware, of Middlex Co., Va., served 1776-79 under the above Captains & received Land Warrant 5986, since then the DAR has required more proof.
