Does anyone know anymore about the Wean family or the Etter family? Lydia Wean married George Bowers in 1846 in Indiana? Lydia was the daughter of Adam Wean who married a Miss Etter. This Miss Etter died when Lydia was 2 years old in 1826. Then Adam married his sister-in-law, Dorothy Etter. Lydia Wean was born on 10-9-1824 in Virginia, I'm not sure which city. Lydia married George Bowers in Richingham Co., VA. George Bowers was born on 8-27-1821 in VA. Later Adams Weans and wife Dorothy Etter moved to Indiana and settled land adjoining that of George Bowers.
Adam Wean was born 8-11-799 and died 3-11-1882. He was a shoemaker, but was unable to do heavy manual labor. When someone wanted boots or shoes, they worked as many days on his homestead as he worked on the footwear and then paid for the leather. Adam and Dorothy lived in a log cabin of 2 rooms with 2 windows of glass and 2 doors. There was a loft in this cabin making the 2 rooms one above the other. There was a small closet under the steps that led to this loft. There was a shed kitchen later and small porch on one side of this cabin. They had little furniture, but among the things were a chest, a small looking glass, some pewter dishes and a dutch oven.
