I agree that there are name variations and can see where errors could occur. And, I have wondered if name variations have impacted my personal success in finding the link between John Weakland in Hagerstown (from whom I am descended) in the 1700's and the Weaklands that arrived in St. Mary's City in 1634. I have never found the name WEAKLAND in the passenger lists for the Ark and Dove to indicate the three brothers arrived. Nor have I found WEAKLAND in the land acquistion lists for St. Mary's City (following indenture service, acreage would have been awarded). However, there are three WHEATLEY brothers, Francis, Joseph and John along with a cousin, Andrew. Has anyone ever confirmed if these were our guys? Any clues would be welcomed! THANK YOU!
