Hi again, Diane.
Dick and I have been exchanging information for a few years, now, without connecting. Since I am the first generation to be born in this country, all my research is done in Ireland. I go over to Wicklow every year, to visit family and traipse through graveyards. The name is only found in Wicklow and Wexford, except for a scattering in S. Dublin. About the name.....Waddock/Vaddock. According to the genealogists at the National Library in Dublin, it's an ancient Celtic/Gaelic name, derived from McMurrough. I have a history of the name on a site, if you'd like to read it. There are two of them, actually, one sent to me by Dick. E-mail me privately for the name and password. There's also a picture of Dick's family on the site, since his ancestors and my relatives are definitely in the same gene pool. It's scary! There are no less than seven branches of Weadicks in Arklow, all related to each other, if you go back far enough. I've managed to connect brothers and families to each other, but none to my own branch yet.
Nice to hear from you...
