Dear Tracy,
My family is from Cambridgeshire and I can trace them back to a marriage in 1740 at Meldreth and beyond that we are alittle bit stumped. We think they may have come from Cornwall before this time.My email address is [email protected] much experience do you have doing family history research? What do you know about your grandfather? The first thing to do is find out where he was christened, because his christening records will have his parents name on it. This is available on the civil register of Great Britain and might be accessible on line. I will check. If we can't find it in the civil register, if you know what religion he was, I can get on line on the Yorkshire List and ask someone in Yorkshire to look it up. But we need to know which parish church. Also he should be on the 1901 British census, which is on line, but not working at the moment. Can I ask where you live and what libraries you have access to? The Wayments come mainly from Cambridgeshire and Cornwall and I have many ancestors in Cambridgeshrire who went "walkabout." I think there is a good chance that your Harry Wayment is the son or grandson of someone in my line. Would love to work with you to see if we can make a connection. Sincerely, Joan and David Hatt
