Virgil- Thanks again for giving me the name of the other book. Igot the information about George Way son of Henry from this forum, in researching it. I was correct about the pirate, he was George, son of Henry. Now that I am home and can look at the papers he George was my husbands 10th ggggrt.grandfather and Henry his 11th. I am confused about the Salem witchcraft trails but an Aaron Way and his family were involved and followed a Rev Lord to SC after they were successfuk in riding Salem of the Rev. Parrish who was the one that accused all the people of witchcraft. If you look on Salem, MA withcraft trials you can read about Rev Parrish who started the witchcraft frenzy. This is from a page on a site that I think is no longer on Internet, I found all this inofrmation in 2004 when my daughter had to find her ancestors for a class project. At that time it was on the www.ormsby.org/genie/Miscellanous/way/html The Pirate one is from this website numbered 1403 and I copied it for you below: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Search family trees: Last Name: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chat | Daily Search | My GenForum | Community Standards | Terms of Service Jump to Forum Home: Surnames: Way Family Genealogy Forum Re: Henry Way on "Mary & John" 1630 Posted by: Roz Lacey (ID *****2374) Date: May 20, 2004 at 20:16:25 In Reply to: Re: Henry Way on "Mary & John" 1630 by Robert Mitchell 1403"> of 1679 I have not yet made the direct connection but my family of Dorset Ways are also said to have descended from Henry the Puritan. From info I have gleaned, George was the son of Henry and a wealthy merchant of Bridport, Dorset, stated to be a 'glover'- manufacturer of gloves. My Father always told us he was no more than an old Pirate and their ships were heavily involved in plunder and slavery. George made more than one trip to USA, founding the new Dorchester with Henry. He dealt with business back in Bridport but USA became his new home and when he died he left a couple of plantations. Where he died, we don't know - it could have been here in Dorset. The story of the Piracy has been handed down through my family by word of mouth for generations. Notify Administrator about this message?
