My ancestor, Mary Way, born abt 1650, married to Thomas Pettit, II 0f Newtown is never mentioned as a child of James Way. Yet I found a land record for Mary Way that states her father is James Way of Newtown. This record is transcribed in written records of Newtown. Excerpt, original spelling. "March 9-1690 This is to Sortifie All whom it may concern that wheareas Thomas Reed gave unto Mary Way A Sertin Legisie out of ye land within mentioned, I Thomas pettit being the husband of Mary Way doe acknowl that my father In Law Jams Way ded pay unto my wiuef full Satisfaction for ye same & now I ye said Thomas pettit doe own to be fulley satisfied Conteted and paid by John Way for all the Right of the within patien for me & my hayers for Ever ...... Recorded by me Jeremiah Burroughs, Clarke" Hannah Way Moore was also married to Thomas Pettit II, found in same records. Thomas Pettit II was married 4 times.
