National Archives military records show Howell Watts of Union County, Georgia, Pvt in Mexican War, served Georgia Infantry Co C, Seymour's Battalion.
Muster Roll show he enlisted July 17, 1847 in Union County, Georgia for "duration of the War". His age is listed as age "30", but another Muster Roll he is listed age "19", spelled Howel Watts (one l), dated July 12, 1848 saying he appeared on the Muster-out roll: Mobile, Alabama July 12, 1848, hand written "Pay due from enrolment" under Remarks: "Died at Perote, Mexico January 11, 1848".

I feel Howell WATTS if most likely related to my John or David Watts living nearby in Dahlonega, Georgia until 1849 when the family moved to Blount County, Alabama (that part now in Winston & Cullman)...just not sure HOW? If you have additional info on Howell WATTS, contact me please.
